WOMEN IN AVIATION DAY

Mar 15, 2010

Evergreen Museum

Have you ever dreamed of soaring among the clouds? Come to the Evergreen Aviation Museum to learn about and meet some of the women who shared that dream and paved the way for female pilots today.  These brave women faced a world where people didn’t believe they were skilled enough to pilot an airplane, and they proved those skeptics wrong!

Meet some of the Women Air Force Pilots (WASPs) who flew airplanes during WWII, and members of the 99’s, an organization made up of female pilots and was originally founded by Amelia Earhart herself!  Learn about the daring feats of Elinor Smith and Harriet Quimby, make a glider and explore the world of aviation with other hands-on activities.
