Amazing Aerospace Summer Camps

From building rockets under the shadow of a Titan II missile to protecting the Earth against extraterrestrial threats, the Museum is offering a brand new camp schedule this summer! Students will spend part of the day creating, part of the day experimenting, and all of the day learning. 

Scholarships:

  • Asteroid Day (Ages 7-11): June 26
    Each year, thousands of tiny pieces of space rock hit the earth. These rocky remnants cause wonder in the form of shooting stars and terror in the form of large impacts. If you’ve ever wondered how they’re made, what they feel like, or how they shake up the world, now is your chance to learn more about space debris – just in time for National Asteroid Day!
    Time: 10am – 3pm
    Cost: $20 (non-member); $15 (member)

  • Rocketry Camp (Ages 9-14): July 8-12
    Aim for the stars in our Rocketry Camp! From paper rockets to model rockets that fly up to 300 feet, you will spend the week building, learning, and ultimately designing rockets. Tell your friends that, yes, it is just rocket science!
    Time: 10am – 3pm
    Cost: $200 (non-member); $150 (member)

  • We Can't Win Without Them! (Ages 7-16): July 26
    The history of spying has always been rife with excitement! From learning how the first war plane was used as a spy plane to cracking secret codes that use the power of math, you will spend the week immersed in the world of espionage.

  • Men in Black Training (Ages 8-12): August 8-9
    Congratulations, agent! You have been chosen to participate in an overnight training to join the Men in Black. Our organization helps protect the earth against extraterrestrial threats and is among the most classified agencies in this world. Step inside the Space Museum to learn about espionage, exoplanets, and aerospace mysteries – but be prepared for your first mission at the museum to be full of twists and turns.
    Time: 5:30pm – 9am
    Capacity: 25 
    Cost: This includes a snack, breakfast, movie, activities, and Museum admission the following day.

  • It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's a Dirigible? (Ages 9-14): August 12-16
    Parachute into a full week of everything aviation! Take a tour of restoration to learn about how old planes get a new life. Investigate the parts of an airplane and learn to fly an RC airplane. Discover different types of unmanned aircraft, from weather balloons to drones – all while delving into the fascinating history of aviation, through living history talks, hands-on activities, and spotlights on aviation’s greatest achievers.

  • Time Warp (Ages 9-14): August 28
    Do you have some time to kill, but you don’t want to waste it? Join us for the day to learn all about this strange, wonderful and oh so important thing we call time. Take a journey through time to understand why we have 12 hours in the day, how humans marked time before digital clocks, how to successfully time travel, and if, in the end, time is actually just an illusion.
