Topic: WWII had just ended, immediately followed by the Korean war, US Air Force was still flying the older propeller planes. Our Air Force was suddenly coming up against the Russian MIG-15, which was out flying our pilots. Kelly Johnson from the Skunk Works went to Korea talking to our fighter pilots about needing a fast maneuverable interceptor. Lockheed was contracted to build the F-104 Starfighter in 10 months.
