Wave Day 2017

Dec 9, 2017 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

"I Have a Story"  Supporting the Historical Perspectives Kiosk Unveiling

Join Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum and Wave Business on December 9 to hear the stories of people and planes that have contributed to aviation and aerospace history!

The Historical Perspectives Kiosk is an exhibit presenting Museum visitors with video stories from various Oregonians related to aviation, space, military, or an era represented at the Museum. These varied and unique video interviews are the cornerstone of the Museum's "I Have a Story" program, which documents first-person experiences for historical and educational purposes.

Made with the participation of students from McMinnville High School, video subjects are interviewed, filmed, and the footage edited by students with the assistance of Museum staff in a unique intergenerational exchange.

What is Wave Day? – Wave is a Northwest-based company that donated the funds to build our Historical Perspectives Kiosk. This day is dedicated to thanking Wave for their generosity complete with activities that support the “I Have a Story” Campaign behind the Historical Perspectives Kiosk.

What is a Historical Perspectives Kiosk? – It’s an exhibit on the Aviation Museum floor containing three stations to show visitors unique stories from various Oregonians related to Aviation, Space, Military, or an era represented at the Museum. It is here that the “I Have a Story” campaign is displayed.

What is the “I Have a Story campaign”? – with its roots in finding ways to have our artifacts come alive, “I Have a Story” allows a major event, a critical point in history, or an experience described from the perspective of those recorded to be told as a humanized and engaging story. Storytelling inspires a deeper connection between Museum artifacts and visitors.

Who made the videos? – Made with the participation of students from McMinnville High School, video subjects are interviewed, filmed, and edited by students with the assistance of Museum staff in a unique intergenerational exchange—onsite at the Museum in McMinnville.

What activities are planned? – Lots of fun stuff to keep all ages engaged throughout the day!
