Finding the Most Distant Galaxies in the Universe with James Webb Space Telescope with Dr. Brant Robertson

James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), scheduled to launch in December 2021, will be the most powerful telescope ever. Astronomers will use JWST to search the sky for the most distant galaxies in the universe in the first few hundred million years after the Big Bang. This talk will describe how JWST can discover distant galaxies and what we can learn about how galaxies like our Milky Way form and evolve.

Dr. Brant Robertson is a Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He is a member of the JWST NIRCam Science Team and is an expert in studies of galaxy formation and evolution. He grew up in Redmond, WA, attending the University of Washington as an undergraduate, and earned his Ph.D. in Astronomy from Harvard University.
