Hughes Aviation Research Project (HARP) Launch

Jul 12, 2018 - Jul 14, 2018

Celebrate Education, World Records and HARP at the Museum July 12-14

Please join us July 12-14 for the launch of our Hughes Aviation Research Project (HARP) and an opportunity to meet our education partner, K12. On July 12 and 13 the K12 TOUR will be onsite at Evergreen to introduce parents and students to their online public school program that has served almost one million students since 2001! They’ll have information, activities, and some really cool giveaways for you in the parking lot of Evergreen on July 12 & 13 and if you sign your student up for a program with K12 you will receive free admission to the EASM (good for up to 4 family members on July 12 or 13 only)

EASM thanks K12 for their generous support of HARP, our new education initiative that engages learners of all ages with the art of creative writing and storytelling based on document collections. Whether working with a collection like the archives of Hughes Aircraft Company or researching your family history, EASM knows everyone has a story to tell and this project will provide support as we collect and share our stories.

One story EASM is currently celebrating is the record breaking Flight Round The World in July 1938 by Howard Hughes. In honor of this accomplishment EASM Education is offering visitors an opportunity to fly our simulators along the route Mr. Hughes took in 1938. Join us in the Aviation Building on July 13-14 for this opportunity (Free with admission to the Museum).

Finally, for the generous supporters of HARP we will be opening our archives for a behind the scenes exclusive tour of the Hughes Aircraft Archives. On July 14 from 10:00-2:00 donors to HARP are invited to stop by the EASM archives (located in the Theater Building on the Evergreen Campus) and chat with the individuals guiding our new research project.
