Put on your favorite 40’s attire and join Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum on Saturday, November 4, 2017 for our annual Dreams Take Flight Gala! Join us for an evening of food, drink and a bit of hangar flying with our special guests Aviation Legend Clay Lacy and our Nation’s first Commercial Astronaut, Mike Melvill.  This event includes a live and silent auction which help fund Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum as we continue our mission to inspire and educate guests of all ages. 

5:00pm        Doors Open for Hors d'oeuvres, wine (generously provided by The Stoller Group) and beer (generously provided by Deception Brewing Company), and music. Silent Auction will run from 5-6:30pm. 

6:30pm        Live Auction & Presentation during seated dessert (VIP seating available for Table Sponsors)

Our presenters include Clay Lacy and Mike Melvill. The amazing Drew Carney of KGW will be our emcee for the evening. Live music will be provided by The Frank Messina Band.


Clay Lacy has achieved worldwide acclaim for his indelible and lifelong contributions to aviation, and is the recipient of many other prestigious honors and awards. He has flown more than 300 aircraft types, logged more than 50,000 flight hours and accumulated more miles flying jet aircraft than anyone on Earth. During his career at United Airlines, he flew the Convair 340, DC-3, DC-4, DC-6, DC-7, DC-8, DC-10, Boeing 727 and Boeing 747-400. He retired seniority No. 1 in 1992 after more than 41 years of incident-free flying.

Our Live Auction will include a once in a lifetime opportunity to take a flight on board Clay’s fully restored United DC-3. Clay has generously offered to fly our winning bidder and their friends on a one hour flight around the LA area. 

Mike Melvill is Vice President/General Manager, a Test Pilot and one of 10 owners of Scaled Composites LLC in Mojave, California. He has worked for Burt Rutan for 27 years, and has 23 years of experience as an experimental test pilot.

Mike holds an FAA Commercial pilot’s certificate, ASEL, AMEL, instrument airplane, Rotorcraft-helicopter and Glider. He has accumulated 7050 flight hours in 128 fixed-wing types, and 12 rotary wing types. He recently became the Nation’s first Commercial Astronaut, after flying SpaceShipOne to above 100 km on June 21st 2004.
