Cultural Days: Yuri's Day

Apr 14, 2018 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

The theme for April is in celebration of Yuri Gagarin's flight; that first glimpse of Earth from space.

On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space. Delve into the history of the Space Race as we build capsules that will protect your model astronaut as they drop from high above, interact with our historical figures as they tell their own space stories, and finally, enter our poetry contest for the chance to win a membership to the Museum!

Poetry Contest: The early Space Race was littered with firsts in space -- choose one of these firsts, whether it is Laika’s short journey as the first living creature in space, the first glimpse of Earth by a human from space, or another first, and write about it.

Submit up to three poems of any style to education@sprucegoose.org, where you will be entered for a chance to win a year-long membership to a Museum. The Grand Prize winner’s selected poem, as well as honorable mentions, will be posted in the Museum.

In your submission, please include your name, age, and phone number. **The deadline to submit is April 30, 2018**

Cost: Admission to this Museum event is $18 with a Golden Ticket. Download your Golden Ticket HERE.
Print or show your Golden Ticket at admission. Good Saturday, April 14, 2018 only.
